Real Call-Out interrupts mock Call-Out exercise on new-member introduction course.

NWMRT members can never know when they might be called out and it isn’t always at the perfect time.

Yesterday, several members were involved in a course to introduce potential new recruits to the team. They were just about to get involved in a mock-call-out scenario, when a task came in from the PSNI to help a 73 year old female, who was out walking with a Tyrone-based walking club on Crockback Rock Hill in the Sperrins, when she started feeling light-headed and unable to continue walking.

Team members at the induction training near Dungiven had to be redeployed to the incident..and were joined by colleagues from Broughshane and further afield, who had also responded to the call-out.

The walking club had kept the casualty warm and had given her a warm drink and she was able to walk to meet NWMRT who helped her into the Rescue vehicle where she was kept warm. Once she was checked over, she was driven down to an waiting ambulance.

Once the casualty was given the all clear by the HART team of the NI Ambulance Service, she was able to return to her group .
